Today’s musings (*’\u03c9’*)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today I got nervous and bought a generator. Now I can get by for several days to weeks even if there’s a power outage.
This kind of disaster preparedness is surprisingly hard to take that first step on, isn’t it?
First you need to carefully consider what’s actually necessary.
And you don’t want to fail, and you want something with good usability and design that you can use for a long time.
That’s why it’s best to choose these things during normal times when you have plenty of time\u2014that way you won’t be in a bind when an emergency hits.
When you really need something, you end up having to buy an unwanted brand at above-market prices.

I suddenly remember the Corona days.
When it started spreading in China, something just clicked.
I thought we’d be in trouble later “masks, tissues, toilet paper” <\/strong>I stocked up on enough to get by for a while.
My prediction came true! Before you knew it, all mask-related items vanished from the world, and I still remember being shocked.

Now with all this flooding chaos, I can’t help but think “what if another disaster hits?” <\/strong>and I can’t be optimistic.
Everyone, a portable power station is the bare minimum essential, and then a nice generator with real output is the ultimate combo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So with that, I’m going to install a MOSFET regulator on the TZR250 3MA <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the manual it’s still OK voltage, but\u2026 it seems a bit high?
Somehow it doesn’t feel great for peace of mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OEM regulator costs 25,000 yen\u2026
Well, they keep making it to the original size specs from back then, so it can’t be helped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s absolutely no point in using OEM parts that aren’t even designed with heat dissipation in mind for compact installation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s very compact, so I’ve been using this regulator a lot lately.
*I was told that other makers have them too\u2026

There are various issues whether it’s thyristor or MOSFET, but I’m definitely team MOSFET.
The low heat generation of the regulator itself is great.
Fundamentally speaking, I think you should just use all the electricity you generate.

This kind of thing is really important.
Better serviceability means you can safely and quickly remove and install parts.
With the 3MA having hoses in recessed areas, a power band like this is really useful.

While compact, the size is larger than standard.
After deciding on the new location, I whipped it up quickly.
I’m using the plate as studs, so it’s compact and has excellent removability.

Surely you’re not fixing this kind of part with bolts and nuts, right?

I fixed it snugly to the left side like the standard.

For the connector and terminals, I sourced them from a wiring supplier.
187-type 5-pole waterproof F connector Sumitomo Wiring Harness HX waterproof series (terminals and wire seals sold separately)\/5P187WP-HX-BK-F-tr<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terminals come in M\/L\/LL sizes, and I use L size with AVS 2SQ.
Whatever you do, don’t buy the M size by mistake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
