Well, I recently got the registration sorted and have been cruising around town, but…
it doesn’t have the same thrill as the Zephyr 550. <\/span><\/strong>
To put it nicely, it’s wonderfully easy to ride; to put it bluntly, it’s bland. <\/span><\/strong>That’s the GPZ 550 for you.

With the half-fairing and a higher-speed final gear, it has the feel of a lightweight long-distance tourer.
This time, I want to focus on one thing: a low throttle! THE classic bike
throttle that requires you to twist your wrist so much. I want to improve that.

THE classic bike (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) – reminded me of the stock GS1000S <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I marked it with a marker and looked closely, I found I was twisting it nearly 90 degrees.
With 550cc, that’s basically full throttle.
Since I have to twist my wrist that much every time, it gets a bit tiring and sometimes I can’t open it fully.

I want to be able to open the throttle fully without hesitation, so I want to increase the winding diameter <\/span><\/strong>and convert it to a high-throttle setup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, “increasing the winding diameter makes the throttle heavier.” <\/span><\/strong>
Vacuum carbs are already light to operate, so this is definitely a benefit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since I wasn’t sure what would work, I prepared two options. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I prepared two sizes: 34.3\u03c6 and 36.5\u03c6.
The throttle cable only has an open side, so I can only use one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The throttle cable inner should have some slack. <\/strong>
The stopper on the switch side should be properly seated. <\/strong>
When the handlebar switch is fixed, it should operate smoothly. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t check these things, it gets super dangerous, <\/span><\/strong>so be careful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got greedy and installed the 36.5\u03c6 first, but when I fixed the handlebar switch, it didn’t operate smoothly.
It seems to be catching somewhere, but it takes time to check, so I’ll skip it for now. <\/strong>

The 34.3\u03c6 operates smoothly, so I want to test that one first. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t

It’s become a bit more high-throttle (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*)
I think the acceleration feel is quite different already.

These small improvements let you focus on just riding and enjoying the bike. <\/strong>
It’s not all about expensive parts;
first,
“squeeze everything out of the stock setup, and only then seek changes if something’s lacking” <\/strong>is a good approach too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Probably with the stock 27\u03c6 TK carb, the 36.5\u03c6 throttle <\/span><\/strong>would probably be more fun… <\/span><\/strong>
But this isn’t the final form since I have the Zephyr CVK30\u03c6 coming up next,
so I need to keep the throttle sleeve as a tuning part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hey, if your throttle cable play is all loose and sloppy! <\/span><\/strong>
Just adjusting that alone will change the acceleration feel quite a bit, <\/strong>I think.
