They really put thought into things back in this era.
When you apply anodizing to the caliper body,
the oil seal and dust seal areas become extremely resistant to corrosion.

The body doesn’t deteriorate either, and the caliper maintains good condition for a long time.
Recent calipers are anodized too.

Single-piston calipers won’t perform well unless the slide pins operate smoothly.

If you use silicone grease, the boots won’t deform.
The softer the grease, the better the operation.
Using silicone spray in combination makes for an even nicer brake feel.

Titanium bleeder nipples have become quite affordable these days.
Even ordering OEM steel ones costs a fair bit.

Iron nipples tend to rust, so lately I’m replacing all of them with titanium.
There’s always the issue of dissimilar metals seizing, but so far there’s no problem with nipples.

It’s a small part, but when the bolts look nice, the bike looks sharp.
And Honda OEM bolts have no strength issues,
are relatively inexpensive, and have a nice design, so I keep them in stock and use them regularly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RK sintered metal brake pads work well with this <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to stainless discs, sintered metal is the impression you get.
If you brake firmly and bed them in properly,
the “shushing” sound from sanding is very pleasant.

The old cast iron discs had even nicer sound and feel.
I’d really like to replace the brake disc too, but budget constraints mean we’ll skip it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You end up with pretty similar lever feel.

When the caliper piston moves well,
you don’t have to worry about “excessive oil seal rollback.”
Old calipers that have never been overhauled won’t reach their best condition no matter how much you clean them.
Rather than spending time frequently working them out,
overhauling them saves time in the end <\/p>and definitely improves brake feel.\n\n\n\n

When you buy a used bike, you definitely want to service the brakes.
If it’s been 10 years without disassembling the brakes, isn’t that a bit concerning? <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t
