GPZ 550 throttle wire and clutch wire are original discontinued items.
While patrolling the internet, I found that GPZ 400 F has reproduction parts available. <\/strong>
I thought they’d probably work, so I obtained both.

This time I only installed the clutch wire. <\/span><\/strong>

As a result, the original GPZ 400\/550 clutch wire layout is extremely poor. <\/span><\/strong>
Even if the wire moves smoothly, there’s a lot of friction <\/span><\/strong>.

So then? I rummaged through my stock that I also use on the Inazuma 1200…
The GSX 750F clutch wire I happened to have in stock was a Cinderella fit! \u266c <\/strong>

Since the GPZ 550 version is discontinued, I bought the BRC GPZ400F wire set.
To be honest, it’s reasonably priced and the same dimensions, so it’s safe to use.
It might be easier without worrying about the same routing <\/strong>.

When I temporarily installed the carb, I realized it’s too tight and the layout is quite difficult.

*The throttle wire cannot be used with TK carbs! <\/span><\/strong>

The outer length is easy to see when you line them up.
For the inner wire length as well, you just need to pull the wire on one side and compare the length to the old one <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new one moves very smoothly and feels great . <\/span><\/strong>
The old one won’t move at all with one hand, so I think the tube inside the wire has worn down or dirt has accumulated.
Once a wire gets old, even oil can’t beat a new one. <\/span><\/strong>

Before the wire breaks, replacing it by distance and age makes a huge difference.

The GPZ400F and GPZ550 clutch wires were the same size (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) <\/span><\/strong>

As a result, the original GPZ400F\/GPZ550 clutch wire layout is extremely poor.
And combined with the wire being too long, “clay-like clutch feel?” <\/span><\/strong>
This reproduction wire (clutch side) will be shelved… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where wires bend, metal vent tubes tend to make the inner wire operation smoother <\/strong>.
When you pull the inner wire, the wire naturally wants to straighten out, <\/strong>so
that creates significant friction. <\/strong>

With a thicker clutch wire, the load feels even greater.
Looking at this, I can somewhat understand why the external routing was chosen.
The carb and cam chain tensioner are close together. <\/strong>
I really need to install the carb and check it to be sure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It just barely clears, so it should be fine.
However, if I put a clutch wire clamp on the head cover side, it would be even more perfect <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, turning the handlebars left and right caused no problems. <\/span><\/strong>
However, there’s only about 10mm of clearance between the carb throttle area <\/strong>

. For certainty, it’s best to install a clamp to keep the wire from moving <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From what I’ve confirmed so far, turning the handlebars left and right doesn’t make the wire move <\/strong>.
But still, since it’s close to the carb throttle area, installing the clamp is urgent <\/strong>.
If you’re copying this, definitely install it.
If the throttle won’t open, that’s bad enough, but “getting stuck is the worst.” <\/span><\/strong>

And this carb has no “return wire,” so it’s express to hell <\/span><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So in short, it improved dramatically! (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) <\/span><\/strong>
If you want it a bit longer, maybe a GSX1100S wire might work too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also checked the GPZ 550 clutch lever ratio <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was roughly 28mm. That’s a pretty rare low number.
With no lever shape or lever position adjustment, the benefit of 28mm is a bit thin.

So the GPZ 550 work is progressing slowly.
I’m only working on it for an hour after work, so everyone’s bikes are being worked on properly. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t
