Actually, the headlight tester had been performing abnormally poorly for quite some time.

We don’t even have rails on the ground and we haven’t done any calibration.
We just use the headlight tester as our single reference point to align it perfectly,
and we have road line markings on the ground, so there shouldn’t be any major deviations.

But no matter how much we adjusted it, it would go right or left, or the adjustment would be way off.
I won’t know for sure until we try a few more units, but for now it’s stable.

When I disassembled it and investigated, I found that the battery case was cracked and causing poor contact.

That battery case is still available on Amazon, Yodobashi, and Monotaro.
At around 500 yen, I think it’s safer to replace it before it breaks.
It’s definitely a part that will disappear from the world soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t

I searched for the number engraved on the battery box and found this product.
When I ordered it, it was exactly the same thing, so I was relieved.

The spring tension is quite strong, so it must have cracked from deterioration.

Now that I think about it, when I moved the headlight tester, the detection seemed to get worse.
I hope this was the cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The replacement method is just to remove the Phillips screws on the back<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you do that, you can see inside like this, and the plastic box is secured with Phillips screws.
You can remove it by pulling out the positive and negative terminals at the bottom.

While I was at it, I cleaned the front glass on both the surface and inside and did some maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a while I considered replacing it with something like LED that we now support,
but since recent aftermarket LED bulbs are picked up well by the tester, I decided to hold off.

If there were many newer motorcycles, it might be worth considering,
but since our shop only deals with vintage bikes, we can still fight with this one.

By the way, the same Banzai HT201 is being sold on Yahoo Auctions for around 35,000 yen. <\/a><\/span><\/strong>

As LED became more common, this old model became obsolete.
However, for older bikes with H4 bulbs, it’s still usable.
If your shop has space and handles a decent number of inspections annually,
at this low price, having one saves time and tester costs.
