Kawasaki Z Series Every time I worry about
whether it’s original OEM, mixed parts, or reproduction?

Order parts, open them, install them \u2192 they don’t fit, that’s common.
I’ve always thought the Kawasaki Z is a complex, intricate, and maniacal bike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I’ve had painful experiences with this kind of parts ordering many times, so I always check first.
277.5\u03c6 or so… that’s quite an odd dimension.

Even looking at the Sunstar catalog, they don’t sell a size like this.
I asked the respected master from Gifu, and he confirmed that it doesn’t exist either.

Since it’s an integrated caliper support rear brake, that part is troublesome.
Would replacing the calipers and Sunstar disk with those from other Z models clear it up?
For now, I’ll avoid getting too involved and just muddle through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stainless disk is hardened, so I don’t think we can make much progress on it.
I’ll use the usual brake disk facing brush to improve it just a little bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s some unevenness, but the feel will improve significantly.
For those with severe brake noise, polishing the surface like this will help a lot.
*Of course, if new contact spots appear, it will squeal again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wheel bearing condition is good, but I’d like to make it double-sealed. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hub bearing is unsealed.
Basically, I hate grease and oil flying around, so I really want to seal it if possible.

The bearing itself doesn’t look bad, so I’ll leave it as is this time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside looks like there’s still some material left, but the outer edge is quite worn.
I’ll replace it now and make it last until the next rear brake disk project.

These era die-cast calipers won’t perform well unless the pads and slides are smooth, and they’ll drag or squeal.
Just disassembling and reassembling won’t unlock the performance\u2014that’s an interesting design aspect.
It’s genuinely rewarding work.

The takeoff angle from the brake master isn’t good, so the hose is under tension.
I measured to see if it might be a bit short, but the length was fine.
I just replaced the fitting angle, so it was an inexpensive fix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
