Today I’m installing the Yoshimura ST-1 cam (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*)

High cams seem like they have a high barrier to entry<\/span><\/strong>or so you might think…
But with an oil-cooled 1200“This is what an oil-cooled 1200 STD should feel like”<\/span><\/strong>is the feeling you’ll get.
A smooth, responsive feel from low to high RPMs.

With the STD, the low end is decent enoughbut when you raise the RPMs, they don’t sync with vehicle speed<\/span><\/strong>
The engine is spinning but the bike feels sluggish.

The Inazuma 1200 also has poor serviceability<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The coil is fixed from below (with aluminum spacers too)
If the bolts slide in smoothly, that’s great, but usually they’re stiff and tedious.
*My Inazuma 1200 has the carburetor modified, so I’ve changed it to top-side fixing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hate flat ratchets so much that I went out of my way to buy one because it’s that tedious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With oil-cooled engines, the cam chain doesn’t pass under the crankshaft even when the cam is removed, so it’s safe if it drops.

I prefer to keep my hands out of it
because it gets dirty and you can cut yourself. I try to keep my distance…distance…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My hands smell like Motul and it stinks…
The inside of the head is clean. There was no cam scuffing either. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apparently it had some kind of Morshot treatment applied (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s gotten quite stiff.
The rear \u25b2 can be replaced“rear slider body”<\/span><\/strong>is fixed to the case.
In this state it cannot be replaced, so please note<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t take valve timingit finishes while you’re waiting<\/span><\/strong>level.
Taking valve timing isn’t that much workbut there are many installation confirmation items<\/strong>right?

The cam sprocket has elongated holes for adjustment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Yoshimura timing is extended“Don’t remove anything at all spec”<\/span><\/strong>
If you don’t extend it, you have to remove the oil pressure switch and other hassles increase.
I want to minimize trouble as much as possible…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With wire“Did I touch it? Did I hit it?”<\/span><\/strong>you think and then you have to set TDC again.
With an arm, if you tighten it down, you can be confident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also replaced the signal generator with one from a different Inazuma 1200 and advanced the ignition timing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the high-bo chainthe first time, it’s good to adjust by hand pressing with bolts etc.<\/span><\/strong>If you adjust while watching the play between the crankshaft and chain, you can finish by hand
