    Year after year, motorcycles are demanding more power.
    ETC\/USB\/dashcam\/thermometer\/heated grips and so on.
    Tapping 3-4 circuits from the vehicle harness is quite risky because you have to consider fuse capacity.

    Using the original as-is is a bit risky.
    The battery tap is shaped like a“U-bracket.”<\/strong>When using this, you need to insert a washer on top.
    Don’t put it under the battery terminal\u2014that’s a no-go.
    The contact area drops dramatically, which is really problematic.

    With electrical parts like this, think of them as raw materials and customize the length and layout to fit your specific bike rather than following the manual exactly\u2014it’ll look much cleaner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    D-UNIT series requires cutting and stripping the insulation from the start.

    I think about the simplest way to install it.
    The balance between<\/strong>“where you can mount it and where you want to mount it”
    is always tricky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I try to mount it as much as possible in“where I want it.”<\/strong>This time I modified the air cleaner box slightly and made it stud-mounted.
    By doing that, I can mount it directly here.

    It doesn’t break that easily, but I think 20 years is pushing it.
    This is the important magnetic switch that transmits battery power to the starter motor.<\/strong>
    Honestly, it takes quite a load and gets very hot with heavy use.
    If this fails, it’s not just“the starter won’t turn”<\/strong>but also“the starter keeps spinning even with the key off”<\/strong>
    which is a real possibility.

    If you have an older bike that’s never had one replaced, it’s worth doing it sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Same shape with multiple part numbers?

    This time I chose the 27010-0789 from the larger Zephyr 1100.
    Since the basic shape is the same, most Kawasaki models seem to be interchangeable.
    I mean… the relay doesn’t have a fuse in it\u2014I was surprised about the Zephyr 1100.

    If you want to do something more interesting, you could use the current 30A fused version…
    but I skipped it this time because I’d need to research connector compatibility and wiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
