Today’s topic is “Bike Tools” <\/strong>.

Vintage bikes? Pre-1990s
\u2014you’d be surprised how often you need to adjust the ignition timing, and
the “elongated holes” <\/strong>allow for it.

You can’t adjust it much,
but it “actually makes a difference.” <\/strong>

Using the factory specification as your “baseline,” <\/strong>you can
tweak it a bit forward or back for fun too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital timing light sold on Amazon <\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I used to have a “Panasonic timing light” <\/a><\/strong>
which was surprisingly expensive in the used market, so I sold it.

This product has a few more features,
so it looked interesting and I decided to buy it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only feature I’m really impressed with is the “tachometer” <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At first, I thought it could show advance angle,
“Wow, something that convenient exists?” <\/strong>
I thought.

But in reality,
it can’t show that at all.

However,
being able to “see the RPM” <\/strong>is a little convenient (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power comes from the battery via clamp
(there’s also a modification option for mobile use) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since it’s for cars, the cord is “really long,” <\/strong>which is annoying. I’d like to shorten it,
but since I use it “infrequently,” <\/strong>I’ll just put up with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m labeling it with P-TOUCH (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since I don’t use it frequently, I tend to forget how it works. That’s just human nature.
To avoid frustration, it’s easier to keep simple notes.

It can handle both

“2-stroke\/4-stroke” modes (*\u00b4\u03c9\uff40*) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mostly keep it fixed on “BT\/RPM” and “4-stroke.” <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Connect to the battery and clamp to the plug wire <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just set it to the manufacturer’s specified idle and align it with the F mark.
This gives you the manufacturer’s specified ignition timing.

But if you adjust it forward or back, the character changes again.
*You can only adjust it slightly in terms of angle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

It’s a tool that’s rarely used these days.
You don’t need it, but having one lets you “know the baseline.” <\/strong>

In other words, you can reduce\u2014or at least reduce\u2014some of the guesswork. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
