My grinder is in perfect working order, so I never bothered to look into new features.

Paddle Switch & Brake(Squeeze to turn ON) (Release to turn OFF)<\/strong>That’s exactly what it does.
However, traditional grinders are ON“at full power all the time”<\/strong>
You have to turn off the switch on the handle.

In other words,“both hands are needed for ON\/OFF operation”<\/strong>and
if you drop it or it flies away, there’s a danger.

The paddle switch“is not like an accelerator”<\/strong>
You can’t adjust rotation with subtle grip pressure
Squeeze to turn ON, release to turn OFF<\/strong>That’s all.

When OFF, the residual rotation is minimal and stops quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dial Rotation Adjustment Expands Possibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes you want to reduce the rotation a bit<\/strong>
and grind “safely,” “delicately,” and “boldly.”<\/strong>

With a belt sander it takes timeand feels “a bit tedious.”<\/strong>
You want togrind a bit more quickly.<\/strong>Now that’s possible too.
It’s almost like using a grinder the way you’d use a belt sander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Auto-shift” feature<\/strong>
“A function that reduces rotation from high to low”<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

From high rotation and light load, suddenly“Grrrr!”<\/strong>it bites in,
and when it becomes heavy load,“it automatically reduces rotation”<\/strong>and shifts to torque mode.
Wow! (\u00b4\u30fc\uff40)

And if you apply even more load,the “AFT”<\/strong>circuit activates and stops operation.
Safety is extremely high.

Whirrrrr! Grrrrr… <\/strong>
STOP\u2014that’s the idea.
*Don’t rely on it too much. It’s convenient, sure enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dial shift has 5 stages\u2014this is quite revolutionary.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Truly! It’s quite revolutionary.
I used to use a 100V rotation controller for rotation adjustment.

But the rotation controller“doesn’t keep rotation stable,”<\/strong>and
when you reduce rotation,“there’s no torque.”<\/strong>
In other words, it’s not usable.

Yet recently, Makita grinders have adopted this as standard.
Ididn’t know things had progressed this much until last year.<\/strong>
*Other manufacturers also widely adopt paddle switches and brakes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electric grinders seemed like the same old thing,
“nothing special,”<\/strong>with no real changes.

But it seems 21st-century grinders have actually moved forward a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Drawbacks) Usability depends on your application.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

For people who keep the power on and use it continuously,it’s “not suitable.”<\/strong>
You have to keep squeezing the switch.
That gets tiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Drawback) It’s heavy because it has a battery.
*Battery-powered<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since the battery is mounted on the end,you definitely feel the weight.<\/strong>
Switching to a smaller capacity battery would help a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Drawback) It’s longer because it has a battery.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The battery mount & battery<\/strong>make it“considerably longer than traditional models.”<\/strong>
This is compared to“ordinary grinders.”<\/strong>

Standard 100V grinders with basic features are about“260MM”<\/strong>long.
But the GA418D and similar models are“382MM,”<\/strong>which means
“120MM”<\/strong>longer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuous use, weight, and length are indeed drawbacks, but<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

While there are certainly drawbacks, I think these really only apply
to “continuous use.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For people who want to grind“here and there”<\/strong>for short periods,
“This is the grinder I’ve been waiting for!”<\/strong>\u2014that’s what you might feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power tools and batteries have evolved more than we realize.
