Beyond that might be risky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Man, this bike feels heavy&#8230; <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Haven&#8217;t you ever felt that way? I used to feel it too. <br><br><strong> &#8220;It&#8217;s a liter bike after all,&#8221; <\/strong> or <br><strong> &#8220;You&#8217;re pushing it wrong,&#8221; <\/strong> or <br><strong> &#8220;That&#8217;s just how it is,&#8221; <\/strong> or something like that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people seemed to give an answer like that. <br>Never gave it a thought? The gritty twentieth century was <strong>&#8220;If you say something soft like that, you&#8217;ll fail,&#8221; <\/strong>that kind of world, or so it seemed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Try applying the brakes lightly and pushing the bike. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Damn, it should be heavy. <br>That&#8217;s <strong>&#8220;obvious,&#8221; <\/strong>but release the brakes and <strong>&#8220;it feels lighter.&#8221; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> So&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Is that brake really fully released? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> If asked that&#8230; you&#8217;d probably answer like this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> But actually, <strong> &#8220;it&#8217;s actually rare for the brakes to be 100% completely uninvolved in rolling,&#8221; <\/strong> I think. Even a little bit is working? There&#8217;s friction happening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Back the pads off a bit and push\u2014it&#8217;s &#8220;unbelievably light.&#8221; <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s right. It&#8217;s something that works in a surprisingly subtle way. <br>Here I&#8217;m only talking about the caliper, but the health of the disc and pads matters too. <br><br>The flexibility of the caliper seal affects your bike&#8217;s handling, fuel economy, and even suspension operation. <\/p>*I might be overstating it a bit\u2026\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Light without waste is definitely better! (\uff9f\u0414\uff9f) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Rather than making it lighter in mass with aftermarket parts, <strong> &#8220;light in a healthy state&#8221; <\/strong> is what matters. It&#8217;s the same with the human body, I think. <br><strong> &#8220;Good movement feels light,&#8221; <\/strong> right? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> It gets worse gradually, so you don&#8217;t notice. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Japanese bikes are made extremely well. <br> Generally, major problems are rare. <br><br> Because problems are unlikely, <strong> &#8220;you can just keep using them&#8221; <\/strong> for a long time\u2014that&#8217;s a downside too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> That&#8217;s why maintenance and tracking distance and years of use become necessary. <br> But it also depends on how you use it, so it&#8217;s a tough call. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> The same distance\u2014&#8221;10,000 kilometers in one year&#8221; versus &#8220;10,000 kilometers over five years&#8221;\u2014is completely different. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong> &#8220;Storage conditions and use environment differ,&#8221; <\/strong> but probably <strong> &#8220;10,000 kilometers in one year&#8221; <\/strong> tends to be in better condition. <br> Strange as it sounds, <strong> &#8220;a bike that runs&#8221; <\/strong> keeps all its parts alive. <br><br> When it doesn&#8217;t run, <strong> &#8220;it rusts&#8221; and &#8220;seals degrade,&#8221; <\/strong> and <strong> &#8220;it gets stiff,&#8221; <\/strong> doesn&#8217;t it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Finally: rubber hardens!
