What exactly is attachment to a motorcycle? I wonder.

The years you’ve owned it? The money you’ve spent? Experiences you’ve shared through thick and thin? Admiration? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A word that suddenly crosses your mind when you consider whether to let it go.
*Though I don’t have much experience with that… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when push comes to shove, what do you think about? Is that attachment? <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

When I think about it from my own perspective… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, the money and time you’ve invested.
The more of these you’ve put in, the harder it becomes to let go.
But honestly, whether this can be called attachment is debatable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a big chance that profit-and-loss calculations are swaying your feelings.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, rarity.
When there are many of something, it sells cheap, but when you try to get an equivalent or lesser one, it’s pricier than when you sold it and harder to find.
And if you’ve personally spent time perfecting it, it becomes even more agonizing.
Looking at market prices makes you regret it even more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

History. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is similar to time.
The attachment from owning something since it was new for 20 years is huge.
When you reminisce\u2014I went there too\u266a I went there?\u2014you have plenty of experiences, good and bad.
It’s filled with so many memories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, I haven’t thought much about attachment myself.
Since I’m always looking at customers’ bikes, I tend to be objective.
“Why fix it? This thing has no future.”
I often hit people with reality like that (\uff9f\u0414\uff9f)

On the flip side,
the GS1000S runs but the inspection is expired. Honestly, it feels pretty hopeless.
When I thought about why I keep holding onto it,
\u2022 I’ve owned it for about 25 years already
\u2022 I can’t get the same condition elsewhere
\u2022 I’ve had all sorts of experiences with it, good and bad.
\u2022 I’ve quietly put money and effort into it
That’s about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, is it the culmination of time and money?
*For time, I’m including the time spent searching and the time until it’s finished.
But conversely, if you ask whether spending more time and money increases attachment, the answer is no.
I think the foundation is what matters, and attachment grows as a topping on top of that.

I often hear the phrase “I hope the next owner will take good care of it.”
Ah, I totally get that\u2014I think so wistfully these days.

Just so you know, this isn’t about disposing of the GS1000S.
Though I am getting rid of the 750… <\/p>\n\n\n\n
