Setting aside the excitement… it was convenient, wasn’t it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. (By our comparison) 138% increase? (Year-over-year?) <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a few months since I started using it, but I can’t work without it <\/strong>…. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can’t imagine not having it… there’s no going back to the past…
I wish I’d started using it sooner…. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ll feel it once you use it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Limited workflow (*’\u25bd’)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At our shop, whether we have a lift or not affects our bike storage space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

No lift: 8 bikes. With lift: 5-6 bikes = 2-3 fewer bikes <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That’s quite significant, isn’t it?
I think anyone running a small shop would consider this.
But beyond that, the reduction in physical strain is huge. Really huge <\/strong>…. seriously <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of times you stand up and sit down with your knees fully locked definitely decreases.
For people with joint or back problems, it’s definitely a good thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without a lift, you can’t go below ground level. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Well, that’s obviously true, right? <\/strong>
But aren’t there areas you can’t see if you can’t go below ground level…? <\/strong>
You can manage with mirrors or endoscopes, but being able to see something directly with your own eyes makes a huge difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t want to do an oil change without a lift anymore… <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That’s the level of difference. Super easy <\/strong>.
I was basically anti-lift <\/strong>, but when someone like me uses it, it completely changes how convenient it is <\/strong>.
Working at a comfortable height is super important <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Removing and cleaning the caliper, changing oil, cleaning the chain, welding, cleaning\u2014everything is right in front of you.
Small tasks and checks can definitely be done faster and more efficiently.
Efficiency can only go up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let me think about the pros and cons of installing a lift. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawbacks <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1. Takes up space for 1.2 to 2 bikes. <\/li>
  2. Installation costs (hydraulic might be cheaper?) <\/li>
  3. Limited workflow <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Benefits <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    1. Everyone feels how much easier work becomes <\/li>
    2. Strain on legs and back is dramatically reduced <\/li>
    3. Visibility improves dramatically <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      If you’re only going to quit in about 2 years, I don’t think you need one <\/strong>.
      But if you’re going to keep working beyond that, it’s absolutely <\/strong>good….

      It’s not for me to say now, but… it’s a must-have item! <\/strong>
      I’d say it’s necessary <\/strong>right after a compressor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      I’d still highly recommend it to people like that.
