We’re machining-style finishing the bottom case with gun coat paint and then doing the OH! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the day, the stock bottom case just didn’t have any character, you know? ( \uff9f\u0414\uff9f)
Fingers crossed that from here on it’ll start looking the part… and we’ll keep moving forward with the work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had it painted with gun coat (outsourced).

I’m not doing anything that big again…

The fork oil contamination was pretty moderate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a little rust here and there, but at this level we’ll go ahead with it.

Just using a lathe and finishing with Scotch-Brite brings it back to life so much, and the seal glide improves? It’s like a honing effect.
A slightly dull finish looks better than super shiny to me.

We replace the rod bolts every time.
SHOWA should be fine, but… KYB has problem bikes, right?
I think there are quietly a lot of people in the world struggling with this bolt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a pretty niche-sized metal…
Lately there’ve been all kinds of slide metal issues popping up, and I’m wondering what to do, what’s next? There’s a lot on my mind.
We’re in a weird era where you have to stock forks in advance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use SKF seals and pack the lip with fluorine grease (expensive). <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lubrication is excellent, and based on my prediction, I’d imagine this fork is going to be pretty resistant to leaks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After stroking it, we vacuum-bleed the air out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re using a Honda CB1100RS fork cap so we can adjust the initial preload.

Since it already has preload applied like this, if you want to reset the starting point you’ll need to cut the spacer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
