A machine that radiates the aura of an endurance racer (at the time), the GSX750R (GSXR750) GR71.
Hmm, the naming is a bit confusing… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with front maintenance, there are various small requests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

For some reason it’s been moved to the front side… the caliper.
There’s also a request to put it back where it belongs.

It goes on backwards, huh? I found myself genuinely impressed… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head cover is soaked with oil.
We figured it’s probably the oil passage in the center, so we tightened it up. (Keeping an eye on it.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clutch fluid is seeping, so I’ll check it later.
The privilege of original clip-on bars! The anti-rotation stopper\u2014you really should keep this in place.

With clamp-style clip-ons (there are only clamp-style ones), it goes bang\u2014a sudden impact and it moves easily.
The original design is well thought out… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please, I’m begging you\u2014don’t use double-sided tape on parts you’re going to remove…
If you secure things with 3M Dual Lock with removal in mind, it becomes incredibly efficient. <\/a>
If you have an SJ-4570, you can cover most covers with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having various tools to remove the steering stem races makes the work much easier.
This Park Tool RT-2 <\/a>and RT-1 are surprisingly handy. <\/a>
The RT-2 and RT-1 are different sizes, but having both makes the work go faster.

Originally for bicycles, but if it works, there’s no such thing as a specialized tool… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For pressing in the bearing races, we don’t rely on guesswork\u2014we use hydraulics.
This way, whoever does it should get it straight… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re going with ball bearings for the stem bearing.
Either tapered or ball bearings work fine.

Subjectively, I think ball bearings give lighter, more responsive handling.

Having a special tool for the bearing adjustment nut makes the work much easier.
Special tools often get discontinued, so grab one while you can.

The fork oil color really showed its age. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inner tube runout was zero on both sides.
