So why replace a 4-piston with another 4-piston? <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The caliper is in poor condition, and replacement is the best choice. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When the caliper body or piston condition is severe, even an OH to refresh the internals won’t refresh the appearance.

Of course, if you spend money on painting or treatment, it will look nice.
Considering the price balance, it’s good to think about whether replacement or repair makes sense (*\u00b4\u25bd`*). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choose a caliper with a wide selection of pads (*\u00b4\u25bd`*). <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is one of the very important selection factors.
Those who use Brembo probably choose with that in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a wide selection of pads, you can make the braking power stronger or weaker.
And you can also choose how the braking curve rises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some prefer a light squeeze with a sharp “bang!” bite,
others prefer the feel of increasing power the deeper you squeeze,

and some prioritize durability over everything else\u2014the range of choices expands.

Using a minor caliper brand narrows the selection, and you may need to make some compromises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep maintenance and parts availability in mind. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For example, it’s a problem if OH parts aren’t available.
With discontinued OEM calipers, there comes a time to make a decision based on the situation.

In a way, aftermarket calipers have higher versatility to begin with, so parts supply periods are very long and they’re sold worldwide, making them very reliable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4-piston to 4-piston swap: changing feel with piston diameter. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To avoid confusion, I’ll keep the brake master diameter fixed.

When you increase the caliper piston diameter (total area), you get a “soft touch,”

and when you decrease it, you get a “hard touch.”
Not many people swap calipers just for touch, but you should keep this in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually, design and looks were the main reason (*\u00b4\u25bd`*). <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I’m kind of in that category.
As long as performance doesn’t suffer significantly, I have a strong desire to install brakes I like the look of. The effects mentioned above feel like an afterthought.

In the case of the Inazuma 1200, it came with a 30\/34 Brembo 4-piston, so I have no particular complaints about performance.
But as-is, the look seemed ordinary or generic, so I changed it to MOS 27\/30.

This kind of dress-up element is one way to enjoy a motorcycle.
