The other day, I got my hands on a YOSHIMURA silencer for the Impulse 400 TYPE-C.
I definitely bought it for this engraving. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should I just use the outer tube?

Of course, we don’t take on work like that.
If you ask a custom shop or machine shop, they should be able to handle this kind of work easily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It looks like they really wanted to get the front part off somehow\u2014it’s in a scorching hot state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I looked into it, it’s supposedly non-disassemblable? Is that even a thing? I wonder how they got the wool in there? The mystery deepens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since it’s mine, I just went ahead and cut it.

I used a metal saw to cut it, but it was barely better than a contour saw.
If we were doing this professionally, we’d need to make special tools, which is why we don’t take on this kind of work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cut end is pretty ordinary. It was just inserted at the tip, so it came right off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was very dirty, so I cleaned it with wet blasting first.
The stainless on the insertion side won’t budge.

At that point, I guessed it might be stepped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can’t hit it, I can’t use a press\u2026 I wonder how it fits in so tight? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I imagine all sorts of things, but in the end it turns out to be pretty ordinary? ( \uff9f\u0414\uff9f) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s nothing left but to push it to the limit on the lathe.
I’m chucking it at the insertion point, leaving just a fraction of a millimeter, and going hard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I relieved the cut area to the inside and tapped gently\u2026 tap, tap\u2026

Oh, it came off.
Wait? It was press-fit?? That’s the punchline.

Well, silencers like this have always had aluminum that loosens up quickly, so maybe they used this method to account for that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But why press-fit something so tight at the end?
Or did they press-fit the cap first and then weld the shell at the end? But then the wool would burn\u2026
Would it be okay at aluminum’s melting point? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I managed to keep the outer shell (‘\u03c9’)\u30ce
