Modern OEM stands are moving toward pipe construction.

Older bikes had bad angles, so they went for solid, super-heavy-duty specs. The Katana 1100, for instance, has an angle that’s almost unreasonable, putting real stress on the frame.
I’m too lazy to make them anymore at work, but a side stand is a super important part.
It affects how easy it is to deploy and even shift operation when it’s retracted.
