It’s unfortunately rainy today.

The weather looks like it should be fine over the weekend, so that’s good.
Today let’s get started on some Deco-mainte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Both front and rear are 2018, so four years old.
Motorcycle tires are pretty pricey. Since slipping is right next to crashing, it’s always a tough call. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be honest, it’s a 170 size. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I’ve excerpted the Bridgestone T31 page. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a standard rim width of 5.5, the recommended size is 180\/55-17, but the height differs.
The difference in radius is 3.5 mm.

I’m a bit fuzzy on this, but around the year 2000, I remember 5.5 was recommended for 170 size. Following that era’s trend even now might not be the best idea.
Putting in a 170 leaves the edge feeling a bit lacking. *I’ll go with the 180 size. It’s subjective, so take it as a reference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front brake disc is completely worn, so we should plan to replace it when the time comes.
The rear is getting close too, so we should include it in the plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I cleaned up the brake disc and gave the chain a nice cleaning too (*’\u25bd’) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I lubricated the speedometer cable and cleaned up the fender underside too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wheel bearings checked out fine too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The axle shaft and wheel runout checked out fine too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You wanted rim tape applied, so I went ahead and put it on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The caliper is so clean we don’t even need to wash it, and the piston action is excellent! Rest assured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rear pad spring was missing, so I installed one. Without a pad spring, the pads move around inside the caliper, which means the caliper wears faster. Watch out for that.

The inner tube shows no wear or rust\u2014it’s in great condition. Very reassuring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A common issue with aftermarket brake hoses.
When the banjo position doesn’t line up and you force it on, it creates an unnatural curve like in the left image.
This puts stress on both the hose and the mounting parts. I adjusted it so it fits smoothly into the right position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even with a stock master, if you use the tip end as much as possible, you get better leverage and feel more power.
Of course, you’ll get more stroke feel too, so you can dial in your preferred position and have fun with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An engine with good cold compression wakes up nicely (^_-)-\u2606
When you measure with a compression gauge, everyone gets a shock, so I try not to check it too often unless something’s really wrong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tip end was a bit concerning, so I went with a longer one. Everyone wants to take off the fairings aggressively, right?
