What exactly are government certification and gas reports?
Will my bike be okay?
I completely understand the feeling that this system is confusing and scary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the people who come to Decoboco seem unaffected by this, but… <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Vehicles manufactured before March 31, 2010 are exempt from the certification system. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Models from April 1, 2010 onward are subject to it.

To put it very simply:
non-certified
models from April 1, 2010 onward cannot be replaced <\/strong>
and will fail inspection. <\/strong>

Tough times for muffler shops… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This applies to all motorcycles! Check whether the stock muffler has a catalytic converter! <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Stock with catalytic converter <\/strong> replaced aftermarket without catalytic converter fails inspection. <\/strong>
By the way, newer bikes are almost all equipped <\/strong>with them.

This applies to all bikes subject to emissions testing, roughly from around 2000 onward, with model designations <\/strong>starting with BC or EBL on the inspection certificate.

Determine whether the stock catalytic converter is in the silencer or elsewhere. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is where the need for a gas report comes into play.
Parts without a catalytic converter can be replaced with government-certified parts.
If the silencer has no catalytic converter but the collector does, you can replace just the silencer (slip-on) and bring it to inspection without a gas report. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the silencer has a catalytic converter but the collector doesn’t, you can replace just the silencer (slip-on) but will need a gas report to bring it to inspection. *Without a gas report, you’ll be turned away at the gate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You only need to know the manufacturing date and whether there’s a catalytic converter. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whether the manufacturing date is March 31, 2010 <\/strong>or earlier or April 1, 2010 <\/strong>or later <\/p>\n\n\n\n
