You could file down the shell to reduce tension or fabricate a puller, but there’s such a thing as balance in the world.

The pilot bearing puller set (STRAIGHT) 8\u201335 mm, model 19-8000, arrived yesterday.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legs are too long and won’t reach…so I cut both blades at once with a metal saw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I cut 20 mm, but 10\u201315 mm might have been better…

By the way, it’s also possible to remove it without spending money, just by putting in extra effort.

The center sits higher than the outer edge. If I make a custom press tool for this, it becomes a breeze to press in next time and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I shaped it so the center is recessed and the outer diameter is undersized relative to the shell.
That way it will press in reliably.

Using a custom press tool and avoiding the vise as much as possible will dramatically boost your success rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
