At N the starter turns when the clutch is pulled in, but the starter won’t turn when the bike is in gear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That sounds like a critical situation where you’d have to quickly shift to N if the engine stalled.
I’m not too familiar with Kawasaki, but I’ll look into it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Probably the switch is from the ZRX family…
I’ll check by pulling the 1100 and 1200 from my library. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately the 1100 manual is in German and hard to read, so I’ll check with the 1200.
It appears to be in the section labeled “Starter Lockout Switch.”
Looking more closely, it seems to simply be dropping the relay ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At N, the ground is dropped when the lamp lights up, so it’s picking from there.
Otherwise it’s a constant ground going to the horn button, and it conducts when you squeeze the lever.

Simply put, as long as squeezing it drops to ground, you’re good. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used to be a Tepra fan, but it’s weak against solvents and the sticker residue is hard to remove, so it’s been a hassle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
