When you search online, you find some parts that fit straight on and some that don’t. You know what I mean. . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, I find it more fun when parts don’t fit as-is.
Parts that fit straight on are just information, really.

When you have to tweak things a bit, the sense of accomplishment feels higher, maybe? What do you think? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s really nice about parts that fit straight on is rubber stuff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s just no way around it. You can’t cut it or glue it\u2014that’s off limits.
When you find an O-ring or gasket with no part number, that refreshing feeling is like having Godiva ice cream. . . . Really. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vent hose stuff is also a huge help. The rear reservoir tank basically uses vent hoses. They’re quietly expensive and often discontinued.
I get why custom bikes end up with no rear reservoir\u2014like it becomes tankless? ? ?\u2014because it’s just easier. . . . Right? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rubber cushion stuff also comes in handy.
When you’re making a plate and want it to float, or when you’re making a muffler bracket and want it to float, that’s super helpful.
Every time a different bike comes in, I’m observing it like “Jiiiii~” . . . . .

A bike is a collection of parts\u2014”are there any parts I can use?” That’s the mindset.

When metal gets mixed into the parts, things become way more flexible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, when you swap to a TMR or FCR, people ask “Why do you have to change the switch and holder?”
The throttle cable won’t fit, so you swap it\u2014that’s the usual thinking. But the OEM throttle inner cable is actually pretty long, so if you shorten it, you can actually keep the stock switch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is the modification is a hassle, and the throttle sleeve loses some freedom. You have to think together about where to focus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rear caliper and support reuse is fun too.
Making a support is such a pain, you know? It’s not my main business. .
Recent bikes have huge rear axle diameters, so making a stepped sleeve to adjust the offset and use it is also great.
Lately, torque rod-less rigid is the mainstream. It looks cleaner and, most importantly, it gets lighter. It’s a really effective reuse. *For custom work, please contact a custom shop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could go on forever.
Even parts you’ve casually replaced give you really useful information.
Replaced throttle cables, choke cables, clutch cables, and speedometer cables help you out when you’re changing positions
