I’ve been listing parts on Yahoo Auctions recently and checking them out after a while.
Dreams? They’re overflowing, aren’t they? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think using Yahoo Auctions to buy parts is fine and actually expands your options.
However, there are risks you should be aware of, so caution is necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Do you want it because it’s cheap? Or is it cheap because you want it? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These look the same but are completely different.
The easy trap to fall into is the former: “I want it because it’s cheap.” <\/strong>
Something that wasn’t on your radar at all, but you buy it anyway because it’s cheap. You bought it.
If you can handle the installation and other work yourself, that’s still okay.
But if you ask a shop to do it, the installation and inspection labor will almost certainly cost more than a new part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Inspection <\/h2>\n\n\n\n


Whether the part is complete, whether it works properly, whether it’s damaged\u2014it’s rare to catch everything before proceeding.
If there’s a problem, inspection takes time, and the resulting work delays become an issue too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u2022 Are there instructions? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n


Instructions and documentation are absolutely necessary.
Without them, the installer is at risk too and has to research.
If you research and attach the documentation yourself, that’s fine, but if you leave it to the shop, they’ll spend time on it, so it naturally becomes a paid service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 In the end… <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You save a few hundred or thousand yen, but the result far exceeds the cost of buying and installing new.
Getting used parts without risk is extremely difficult.
Even we don’t know until it arrives at our hands. Plus, removing a broken bolt or fixing stripped threads costs thousands of yen in labor alone.
If you can handle everything yourself, that’s a win. If you’re asking the shop to do the work, that’s a loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 You want it and it’s cheap <\/strong> \u2192 You want what you want <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is likely a hard-to-find discontinued part or something you’ve had your eye on.
The buyer’s mind is already made up, so the chances of losing interest after purchase are low.
Any working adult would understand this with a little thought, but people get buried in the sea of shopping in the world and completely lose sight of their original purpose, wandering aimlessly.

Buying is easy, selling is hard. This is true of all things.
If there’s a real need, there’s no problem, but for something whose only selling point is being cheap, there’s no other merit.

\u2022 Can’t cut losses. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Something bought on impulse has no purpose or passion behind it. It just feels wasteful not to use it…
On the flip side, using it wastes both money and time.
By compromising and using it anyway, what do you gain?

The lesson learned is
“penny wise, pound foolish…” <\/strong> and “get what you actually want,” <\/strong> isn’t it?
This applies to Amazon, Uniqlo, and Muji too. Without a purpose, nothing is truly satisfied, is it?
In recent years, cheapness has become one of the attractions, but is it really attractive? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
