Back in the day, before bolt-on customs became mainstream…
Your only choices were one-off fabrication, adapting existing parts, or modified adaptations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back then, just choosing a brake disk was such a hassle.
Now, companies like Sunstar cover pretty much everything, and they openly share dimension information\u2014it’s incredibly helpful for both shops and customers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting close to the real thing required patient, methodical part hunting\u2014like solving a puzzle.
Honestly, I didn’t think the puzzle would be complete without looking ten years ahead. I still vividly remember patiently patrolling sales listings, Pops meetings, and flea markets by the riverbed to piece it all together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was truly revolutionary wasn’t Parts BG or Quant\u2014it was Yahoo Auctions.
Market prices for these things only solidified over the last ten years or so, so back then you could buy whatever you wanted (though quantities were limited to begin with).
Looking back now, I bought a lot of stuff I didn’t need.
Back then, it was ultra-analog culture\u2014if you weren’t connected, word wouldn’t reach you.
I regret buying five or ten GS1000S ZERO seats at my parents’ place back then; there was nowhere to put them, so I ended up dumping them in a hurry. I really regret that now… ( \uff1b\u2200\uff1b)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also had two sets of machined aluminum and magnesium bottom cases for the RGB500, and I regret letting those go too… Well, hindsight is 20\/20, that’s just how people are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back when commercial pipes weren’t readily available, you’d roll three-roll bends, weld them, stuff them with sand, heat them, and bend them into shape.
Just thinking about it is exhausting… I can’t believe I had such a long three-roll bender back then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s too much of a waste, way too loud, and the low-end response gets too thin, so I’ll never actually install it. But I plan to keep it safe and sound for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe I’ll display it as a shrine offering and collect some donations… What do you think?
