After thinking it over all night, I decided to go with the less troublesome approach.


Making a tail pipe as a standalone piece would be a lot of work, so… (in my case) <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I’ll cut right through it.

I’ll reuse the base fitting, then align the edges carefully and tap it into place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than make a muffler bracket, I’ll weld a boss and shift the position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll fine-tune the alignment a bit more and then weld it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this point, it’s difficult to raise the tail pipe any higher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a small difference, but it really does look a lot more stylish.
