My philosophy is that practical tools should be minimal and simple, while custom-made specialty tools are better to have on hand.
I’ve failed plenty of times over the years. Van sales introduce new-looking tools every month with their campaigns, right?
Manufacturers and salespeople have it tough because they always need to be selling.

Prices, market rates, and used inventory are more accessible than they used to be, so expanding sales isn’t easy these days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The other day, Decoboco’s impact wrench passed away.

I could do an overhaul, but I wonder what kind of amazing new ones are out there these days…
I hear they’ve gotten incredibly compact recently? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I was clicking around…
and found an unusual one from my favorite Hazet. <\/a>\u2190 Hazet air tools site <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is… really unsettling.
Max loosening torque: 550 Nm
Max tightening torque: 500 Nm
Honestly, it feels a bit underpowered… only one-third of the old Kuken

I ended up buying it on impulse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I actually used it, the sound was amazing! The feel was amazing! But looking closer…
there’s no adjustment dial… or is there? It’s always at MAX or throttle-like feel. I tried adding a regulator, but honestly it’s iffy. (\u00b4\uff1b\u03c9\uff1b`) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really messed up this time… it’s been a while. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I played it safe and got a replacement Hazet air impact wrench model 9012MT.
I should have bought this one from the start, but… I have this bad habit. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loosening torque: 1400 Nm \u2014 I only use it when something really won’t budge, so I need that extra torque. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the lesson: interesting-looking tools always have a catch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I think about it, I almost never use it on motorcycles.
The lesson is: tools that look like everyday essentials and seem convenient are very likely to be specialty tools with limited use.
