Nothing is perfect once humans get involved\u2014that’s absolute.

The other day I went in for a routine motorcycle inspection as part of my regular duties, and… <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It was a classic bike of a certain model type, and…
Inspector: “Let me measure the sound,” the inspector says.

Me: “This is an older standard, so it’s not proximity-based.”

Inspector: No, it has a model designation, so it is proximity-based.

Me: What year was it? For domestic bikes, before 1985 or 1986…?
He couldn’t even state a clear number, and with a line forming behind us, he said “Let me just pack the muffler and we’ll pass on sound,” so we stuffed it and passed.
Isn’t Decoboco the only shop that always brings perfect inspection equipment? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wasn’t satisfied and didn’t want to hear it again, so I did my homework carefully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I went for the inspection later, it happened to be the same inspector, so I brought up what happened before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspector: That can’t be right. Let me check properly!
Look at this item! It’s there, right? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: No, no\u2014in a separate section it says “excluding motorcycles,” and then it directs you to a different item… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you go to that other item as directed, it turns out it wasn’t proximity-based after all.

I wasn’t trying to blame the inspector or get angry with him.
It’s just that in this world, the difference between knowing and not knowing is so small, and if sharing that knowledge benefits everyone involved and others too, I think it’s worth doing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s no such thing as perfection once humans are involved…
“Use it as reference, but don’t take it as gospel”\u2014I think that’s a golden rule that applies to anyone. It’s a daily practice. (*’\u03c9’*)
