As a bike gets older, unexpected issues come up, and work that should finish on schedule gets extra tasks piled on\u2014leading to delays and schedule slips.

Before you know it, the Inazuma 1200 has passed over twenty years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Now let’s continue with the Deco-mainte. Let’s quickly disassemble the control systems, clean them, and apply lubricant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hmm? The return cable seems oddly slack.
When I pulled on it, oh no.

The cable had never been lubricated at all.
When I checked the parts, the return is available but the pull cable is discontinued. This is a problem\u2014I’d really like to replace both the pull and return while I’m at it.

The Inazuma 400 parts are still available, so I ordered them right away.
They should work. Hopefully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s put the throttle on hold for now and move quickly through the left side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you hear a clicking sound when spinning the rear wheel, there’s a possibility the drive sprocket nut is loose.
The lock was in place, but it looks like everything was reused.

For reliability, new nuts and washers are essential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flats are the same, but it has an odd height to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s it for? I’m curious, actually\u2014I’d like to know. So there are sprocket reliefs with deeper cuts. It was a learning experience for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remove all existing thread locks and replace them with liquid thread lock.

That forced-tightening feel makes it hard to judge torque, and I feel bad for the countershaft threads.
Show love to the threads\u2014because it saves trouble later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I forcibly change the layout on oil-cooled bikes. I remove those grommets too.
It cuts down on wire pinching and inspection hassles dramatically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also disassembled and lubricated the brake pedal shaft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
