TMR overhauls are a bit of a hassle, you know… easily a three-month job.

Drop it off during the off-season, and it comes back when you want to ride… it’s really quite vexing.

Most people don’t worry about it and use the manual choke without any maintenance…
but I’ve heard plenty of horror stories from people who had trouble with TMR\/FCR carburetors…

They’re racing parts in every sense. Be careful.

Even after sending it in for an overhaul, don’t just bolt it back on\u2014do a thorough check-over and you’ll definitely feel more confident.
Work done right is work you won’t regret. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-awaited (?) Yoshimura YR throttle holder set <\/a>has been ordered.
It’s compact, nicely lightened, and looks great…

From my experience, I’ve never had a good impression of new aftermarket throttle holder models…

I look at them all pretty carefully…

The time-tested Active TYPE-1 throttle holder <\/a> \u2190 always a solid choice.
From experience,
the TYPE-2 has poor detachability (the bolt removal is a pain),
and the TYPE-3 can sometimes rotate depending on the handlebar…

Simple is best. I don’t think it needs to be that thin… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I assembled it as a unit and… it doesn’t seem to have a throttle stopper.
Is it the type that relies on the balance between throttle cable pull and return?
Unlike the stock throttle where the cable fitting acts as a stopper… (hoping for improvements in the future)

I personally prefer to have the throttle firmly against a stopper when off.

I didn’t want to drill holes and cut threads… so I looked closely and carefully.

If I made the pull-side cable clamp bolt a bit longer, it could work as a stopper.
So for now, I’ve locked it with a temporary bolt. (M4) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like any bike,
if you stretch the carburetor-side cable adjustment too much, the throttle cable routing gets tight, which tends to make throttle response sluggish.

So I shortened the throttle cable to my liking and locked it with solder for permanent fixing (‘\u03c9’)\u30ce

This is how aftermarket parts don’t fit perfectly right out of the box, which is how we stay in business (‘\u03c9’)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The throttle cable vents are at the same angle… for better or worse… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the space above the carburetor is tight, I went with the shortest routing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Same vents mean the throttle cable has to angle like this to avoid running parallel. The cable mounting pitch is also subtly close.
We had plenty of room for routing this time, so we’re good.

The throttle cable outer is soft and nice, but tight routing tends to make it stiff, so the installation felt delicate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the design is really cool.

While I was checking out various YR holders, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

a recall-type notice came out…
I saw in the image that the throttle cable adjustment was stretched to MAX, and I wondered if anyone actually adjusts it that far…
Aftermarket parts are getting considerate in the 21st century… how touching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I removed the air cleaner box remnants that have been bothering me for a while.
The layout below is messy too, so I want to clean it up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommended for those who hate dusty work: the heat cutter LH8100 <\/a>

It turns bright red in a flash! I also had an ultrasonic cutter, but this one is more than enough for my purposes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
