It looks sleek. The Z1R. I think it’s an eternal classic.

I was thinking about doing the inspection, but then the fluid started seeping… and I think even that tank stain has a certain charm to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

When I removed the master cup… well… it was in quite a rough condition (\uff1b\u2200\uff1b) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s scary, but should I remove the top too… I’m glad I bought the 26mm box wrench (Yahoo Auctions).
If you delay brake fluid replacement like this, it’ll rust like crazy, so be careful! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since it’s an aluminum caliper, it’s not corroded, which is a relief.

We also need the seal ring, so CP2696-6RK is required. I almost made a mistake there\u2014safe! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a while since I’ve disassembled a CP2696.
The piston heights are different on the right and left\u2014that’s kind of neat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took some measurements for reference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There aren’t many component parts, which is helpful.
Lockheed has a nice design, but the piston operation is poor.

I also use a CP3485-8SO, and when I went from an old Brembo racing model to an OH and swapped it, I thought “hmm, it’s subtly dragging a bit.”
Well, the seals are pretty effective… Brembo really is great.
But AP Lockheed has such a nice design that I understand why people choose it.
If the difference is minor, I’d pick “design over performance” too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t used it much lately, so maybe I should use the ultrasonic cleaner more actively… but it gets really hot.
It cleans well, but it takes so much time that I’m not sure… Well, it’s piping hot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long rear fender looks cool, you know?

I think bikes from this era look a bit cooler with a rear fender, based on my image of the superbike regulations back then. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
