Twin 1000cc, OK era. It’s that flow of competing against Ducati, right?
Eight-hour endurance racing four-peat, SBK, Isle of Man, Daytona\u2014this monster machine racked up victories in all sorts of competitions.

It’s a homologation-spec machine, but not a limited edition, and surprisingly reasonable\u2014it makes a good impression.
If we’re talking Suzuki, the rival would be the TL1000R, I’d say…

First full fairing bike equals don’t know how to take it apart.
That’s a common motorcycle shop thing, right?

But for this era, the bolts are visible from the outside, so it’s relatively easy.
*Modern full fairings are designed so you can’t see any bolts at all, and we struggle every time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stock fork is already cool.

Wait, there’s a support bracket… it’s nice that it’s designed with replacement in mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It comes out smooth and slick, which feels really good. You know, care in the places you can’t see\u2014that kind of thing.
The stem shaft is surprisingly thin-walled too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one was reusable, so we cleaned it, oiled it, and adjusted it.
Probably the first time? The handling was pretty compromised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that the stem is done, we’ll move on to the fork.
All aluminum, super lightweight inverted fork. The construction is very simple, and up until this era, it’s nice to work on whatever you’re doing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fork oil was clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inner tube runout was no problem.
It’s in a condition where we can polish it and reuse it, so we’re good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cylinder fixing bolts are so special that if they break, it’s a real problem…
Let’s go gentle and sweet. *It’s aluminum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The customer wants SKF Black fork seals, so we’ll install these.

We’re currently testing an SKF upgrade to make them even more leak-resistant. This is the third bike this year… I hope they last a long time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vacuum pump air bleeding makes a huge difference in peace of mind.
If you get a chance, you can pick one up cheap on Yahoo Auctions or similar, so shops should definitely grab one! Having one on hand really changes the finish. (‘\u03c9’)\u30ce <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need a special tool to fix the cylinder, so I made one ahead of time.
Can’t buy one, so we just whip up what we can make. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this line of work, the special tools you make become more of a treasure than the tools you buy.
*Normally four-jaw, but we made it two-jaw. All the material is pipe. The jaws too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
