We’ve been getting a lot of the original-face models lately…

Every year we see a boom where the same model keeps coming in.
First, we’re going to execute our fork mixing strategy for the front maintenance OH. (‘\u03c9’)\u30ce<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

First, we’re going to replace the stem bearings.
If we’re not careful, it looks like it might not have had fresh grease since it left the factory\u2014the grease was really tight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re replacing them with retainer-equipped ball bearings. Tapered ones would work too, but the grease application is much easier with these, so take your pick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We sealed in the grease that’s currently being used in each area. This might actually be better\u2014or so the theory goes. We’re always learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking the best of both fork A and B?
The fork that was installed had standard springs and nothing good about it, so we cleaned it and put it back.
The cleaner one that was brought in was in excellent condition in every way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ah, when the lathe is big, polishing the inner tube is so much easier too! \u266a I find myself thinking about it.
The finish quality improves as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a good idea to clean up the threads on the cylinder rod too.

We removed the burrs from the oil lock before polishing it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use a vacuum pump to bleed the air, adjust the oil level, and we’re done.
Subtly, creamy foam tends to come out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the front is off, we’ll clean the caliper too.
The caliper is honestly about due for an OH soon. . . . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cleaned the disc, but it’s at the maximum wear limit. . .
Disc replacement is on the table. . . . ( \uff1b\u2200\uff1b)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We checked all the parts. This area was in good condition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
