It’s been May-like weather lately, hasn’t it?
Recently the cedar pollen has calmed down quite a bit, and it feels like I’m finally getting back to acting like a normal human being.

So today’s mystery is this: there’s a mysterious little box (looks like a rev limiter component) where the wire colors don’t match between the box and the vehicle side\u2014is that okay?

The engine runs fine even without the box, but it still feels weird. I wish I had a wiring diagram for the box.
When you find yourself in a tough spot like this, you realize how important it is to think about the next person who’ll work on it. Invisible work is really valuable.


When I read through the service manual’s wiring diagram, I found…
a component called a “limiter.” How straightforward! That’s impressive.

I suddenly remembered those old cars that would go “beep-beep, beep-beep” if you exceeded a certain speed. That’s so Showa era.

After searching around, I found… hmm… this must be it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After researching various things with Google, I went “aha, I see.”
It seems like it’s fine as is, but I kept it simple anyway.

I replaced them and checked the original fuse arrangement.
I did this a while back, so this is just a recheck.

In my opinion, wiring work is really good when you can verify things by color.

Writing things like “red\/black” or “black\/red” in text can lead to misidentification.
And abbreviations like B\/R (black\/red) or Bl\/R (blue\/red) are easy to mix up too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you set things up so you won’t make a mistake even if you do it a million times, that’s peace of mind.
After all, it’s humans doing the work.

I bought various colored pencils and such, but what I ended up with was Procreate 15-color markers! <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t found any situation yet where this variety wasn’t enough.
For wiring work, it’s one essential item\u2014really quite handy, I’d say.
*Great for drawing too, maybe? These days it’s all tablets… (*’\u03c9’*) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I labeled the fuse box like this with a P-TOUCH.

I wish I’d had more time to design it better, but…
I wonder if someone could make one for me?
This kind of tape is absolutely essential for my work. I can’t imagine being without it now.

As for the maker of this unit\u2014whether to go with Tepra or P-TOUCH\u2014I don’t think many people agonize over that choice. But having tried both, I’d recommend the P-TOUCH P900W. <\/a>
It’s resistant to solvents and doesn’t leave much residue after you peel it off.
