I like to think of it as a YZF750-faced FZR1000.
You don’t see many FZR1000 five-valves anymore\u2014I used to ride an FZ750 myself. (I think it was fifty grand.)
It’s got that five-valve engine feel, but once you get past 50,000 kilometers, the compression seems to drop quite a bit. How do you find that? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s been a while\u2014it’s pretty dirty. Well, okay.
We’ll lift the rear and clean everything up thoroughly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brake feel was really poor (front). I thought the seals must be pretty rough, but they turned out to be pretty normal.
After a good cleaning and using that trendy lubricant lately, it moves really smoothly\u2014this might actually be a magic item…

The feel improved a lot. The basics are really important. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you keep the small parts sparkling clean, good condition will last longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cleaned up the fork too. Inverted forks need regular cleaning, or rust and wear will trash the inner tubes in as little as 20,000 kilometers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We replaced the brake fluid with Golden Cruiser DOT4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We replaced the meter backlight with LED and the indicators with standard T10 bulbs.
You can see them lit up even in daylight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the electric fan not operating…
We replaced the fan switch. The operation was so slow that when I checked the actual temperature, it seems to activate at 105 degrees or higher.

Sure enough, there’s a 105 marking on it… That’s pretty scary, so we installed a manual fan switch. This should be safe now.
