With my allergies in full swing, I don’t want to step outside at all. This is RACING speaking.
How is everyone doing?

These over-the-counter allergy meds lately… they just don’t work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow’s a holiday. I get the day off too \u266a Happy? Maybe? <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The shift got stuck once\u2014wouldn’t go up or down\u2014but then it suddenly freed up.

From experience, I’d guess the shift drum wasn’t indexing properly.

So we’ll do a quick check around the crab area.
Kawasaki puts it on the left side… convenient in some ways, annoying in others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing obviously wrong at first glance, but let’s replace the spring components anyway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This spring was the only thing that looked off to the naked eye. Let me check it and seal it up as a precaution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cover looks like it’s been opened before.

The gasket peels off cleanly~ (nice!)
The oil seal is curled up~ (glad it wasn’t leaking, and great we found it now!)

Kawasaki seals tend to curl up easily, don’t they.
At least it’s positioned high enough that it’s less likely to leak… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve made them for Z-series bikes, but not for Ninja-series, so I made one now.

Having one versus not having one makes a huge difference. I always say: doing the same thing a million times without making a mistake is what’s kind to both me and my customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you set this up from the start with this spacer, the seal won’t curl, the spring won’t pop out, and assembly is a breeze~ \u266a <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m reminded every day that what you really need isn’t a lot of everyday tools, but specialized ones like this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I gave the line a gun coat finish. Small details make a huge difference in the final result.
Being able to apply gun coat yourself makes all the difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
