Lately everyone seems to have high-mileage bikes… I understand the urge to reset the ignition system. Let’s install the AS Uotani full-power kit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The wires are NGK power cables. Water-cooled bikes with their special caps are a pain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole lineup is sister shops? Kawasaki is formidable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When a molded backing is bumpy like this, I worry whether it’s original or not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nice thing about aftermarket parts is they don’t always fit right out of the box.
They do fit, but there’s a concern\u2014the ignition coil wires are close to the fuel line. That’s a bit scary, so I’ll raise the coil higher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top is the original setup. I’ll use a low-profile bolt head and raise the collar and nut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought just the left coil would be okay, so I test-fitted it, but then the FCR and right coil collided.
I did the same adjustment and avoided it, so we were safe.

Aftermarket parts aren’t forgiving… For example, I couldn’t do this installation work at my place downstairs. DIY is amazing power, and I’m impressed by it every day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s how it mounts. The low-profile bolt head makes contact, so washers are placed at the mounting bolt positions.

Everyone should cut unnecessarily long bolts. Same as with cable ties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t use the included rubber cover.
I fix it the old Uotani way with a 3-1 clamp. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to remove it, you can cut it with a knife, and the adhesive comes out, so it has good waterproofing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the terminals feel loose, try spreading them slightly to get a snug fit.
Numbering the wires makes it easier to check later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made a plate and installed it the same as the original. After the plugs arrive, we’ll swap them and change the fluid to finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
