(Not this particular bike.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most owners of these bikes know the quirks well, so there&#8217;s basically no starting problem. However, if you don&#8217;t know about it, you&#8217;ll find yourself in a slightly awkward situation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, this rough starting issue comes in about two patterns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Repeatedly toggling the main key ON\/OFF makes it worse. <br>\u2022 Using the kill switch ON\/OFF makes it worse. <br><br>When you hear this, you think, &#8220;Wait, really?&#8221; <br>You might say, &#8220;Well, you don&#8217;t toggle it that often anyway,&#8221; but&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, turning off with the kill switch at a red light, then turning off with the main key\u2014that&#8217;s when it gets rough. <br><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"GSX1200S \u30e1\u30a4\u30f3\u30ad\u30fc\u30b7\u30ea\u30f3\u30c0\u30fc\u3068\u62b5\u6297\u3000\u59cb\u52d5\u30e0\u30e9\u3092\u6539\u5584\u3002\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HY-ihQi4704?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To begin with, the Inazuma 1200 has a resistor in the main key. The Katana&#8217;s main key doesn&#8217;t have a resistor, so we need to add a 100\u03a9 resistor afterward. (Of course, it&#8217;s already installed.) <br><br>But rough starting still happens. (It&#8217;s fine as long as you don&#8217;t use the kill switch.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ve been going on for a while, but I added the fix to this situation, and&#8230; <br><br><br>&#8220;No change&#8221;\u2014absolutely no change at all. (Bit of a shock.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since I&#8217;ve learned a painful lesson recently, there&#8217;s an easy way to investigate. <br>\u2022 Temporarily swap the main key cylinder with one from an Inazuma or similar. <br>\u2022 Swap the Watanabe unit. <br>That&#8217;s it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result: a Watanabe unit over 10 years old was dragging things down. As Watanabe units age, their versions improve, so in this case, the only option was to replace the unit\u2014a situation we found ourselves in.
