I wonder if I’m being stupid\u2014I keep forgetting to apply gun coat.
So while I was at it, I also coated the caliper bolts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head cover oil line bolts, G\/K. The stock ones are aluminum, but I’ve always felt they have a slightly off feel.

I replace all of them with copper. This way they seem to tighten better and don’t leak. *Though it might just be a placebo effect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spark plug condition was clean. I’ll replace it with a JR8B. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a bit of a question about spark plug tightening torque. It’s listed in the box, so please refer to that.

I’ll number them and apply thread compound to prevent seizing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NGK does not recommend applying lubricant or anti-seize to spark plugs.

If grease or other lubricants or anti-seize compounds are used on the threaded portion, even when tightened to the standard torque, there is a risk of over-tightening. Do not use lubricants or anti-seize compounds. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you’ve ever had a spark plug that wouldn’t come out, you understand…
I can really see the manufacturer’s intent, so I’ll proceed in the direction of “reading and feeling that intent” at my own risk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also replaced the tank cover. The mounting method is amazing… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I replaced the fuel hose. It’s a bit tricky to get your hands in there… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner mentioned that the starter occasionally acts up.

When it came in, it made a “kyuu~?” sound and wouldn’t turn over. When I pressed it again, it worked normally. We decided to check the starter motor just to be safe.

Maybe this is my first time disassembling an oil-cooled starter motor… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I cleaned up what I could… The brushes weren’t worn at all. (Replaced them anyway just to be safe.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re going to do this work frequently, definitely don’t make special tools.

The hard-to-reach spots are the technician’s job…
Let’s keep the no-touch areas nice and clean. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The starter motor seems to spin a bit more smoothly now, whether from the cleaning or just a placebo effect.
