Sidestands really do come with a lot of issues, don’t they?

Lower the bike too much and it stands too upright\u2014scary.
Raise it too high and it leans too far\u2014heavy.

A good middle angle is what you want. \u2b50

I really like the Katana’s sidestand, so we’re going with an original sole here too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I use a broken digital height gauge to scribe along the ground.

Cut carelessly and you’ll be in hell later.
Sidestands have an angle to them, so saying “shorten by X millimeters” doesn’t really work.

The actual part is what matters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The method is unglamorous.

Cut, install, cut, install, cut, install\u2014repeating that cycle might be the safest way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you want to cut as straight as possible, swapping the contour blade for a longer or thicker one is effective.

The sidestand level cuts right through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m basically not very handy, so I’m in the “tools are everything!” camp.

To hold things easily, simply, and securely\u2014that’s where photography equipment comes in handy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s good to prepare a bevel. Well, since it’s just the sole, that’s good enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we discussed, the foot is indeed close, so I added a small stopper to make it easier to operate.

When you go with aftermarket parts, it’s good to clear up any tight spots ahead of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
