It suddenly got cold today… even though it was summer weather just the other day.
There’s been a lot of rain, and I wonder if the rainy season is approaching soon?

This R1 has already been around for 13 years now… time flies!

I still think bikes from ’98 are the latest thing, you know? <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We’ll replace the coolant. When draining the water, I always think, could we do a cleaner job?

That’s what I’m thinking.

When there’s a drain fitting (drain protrusion), you can just slip a hose on it\u2014that’s the racing way! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ll come up with a tool that works on anything next time.

When you can keep the work as clean as possible, the cleanup effort drops dramatically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The radiator cap was fine, so we’ll reuse it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We topped off the reservoir fluid. When you mark the level after topping it off, you can tell at the next check whether it’s gone down or up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We lubricated the clutch lever and clutch cable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We cleaned and lubricated the throttle and cable as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ll wash the calipers… hmm, they’re clean… that’s great! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 38mm aluminum piston for single-piston use…

I wonder if I could use it on my CB… there’s definitely potential for a secret tune-up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rear axle runout looks good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ll check the wheel bearings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hub-side needle roller bearings. Technology has come a long way, hasn’t it? (Though this is from 13 years ago.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rear support had a dull finish, so we polished it back to life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We changed the engine oil and filter.
