That legendary fuse-blowing issue is now a thing of the past<\/a>, so~
Recently though… it seems to have a slight smell? and is leaking?

Let’s take a look at it bit by bit~<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This unusually tall negative-pressure carburettor… definitely smells ancient.

Plus it’s a rare carburettor with no starter valve, adjusting air volume with a choke instead.

We’ll fix it to our usual carburettor stand and quickly disassemble it for inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is what accumulates when the engine shuts off.

Since the hose is black, they switched it to transparent to check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pretty dirty… especially cylinders 3-4… I understood the cause right away when we took it apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly, it had a rubber valve for this era… or did it?
This area smells suspicious too… looks like we’re on the right track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We removed the SJ cover. It’s a jet specification I’ve never seen before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The straw corroded and was leaking, so it looks like someone covered it with a gasoline coating agent.

It’s brass, so it would have been better if they’d soldered it…

The spot marked with a circle is where it’s leaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They’re working hard, scrubbing away. It must have been pretty clogged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can get it shiny without all that scrubbing.

Equipment really saves time and improves quality, so it’s very important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cylinders 2-3 were pretty rough, so<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We applied gun coat on both the inside and outside.
