I used push rivets for the front camera of the dash cam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When parts can be removed and reattached easily, work efficiency goes up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A laser level is handy when you need to drill a hole aligned with a hole in the back.

Huepar 2-Line Red Laser Level <\/a>\u2190 I have the green version of this.

The one I used before broke, so I got this one. Since I’m just drilling holes, I don’t need anything fancy.

I shine the laser at the back hole, temporarily fix the cowl, mark with a marker, and then just drill.

Hmm, a marvel of civilization? It’s already the 21st century, but . . . it’s still convenient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s four pieces like this. It’s our usual sneaky spot-welding strategy.

Everything is fit to the actual part, so I have to be careful not to mess up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve added lock washers and tack-welded the nuts so the bracket can be easily reinstalled even after removal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we’re waiting on the fasteners. (The one in the photo is a bit long.)

What’s the difference from the cheap ones? The ability to choose the fastener length is extremely important.

If it’s too long, you need to add a washer,

and you never have the problem of the fastener not reaching or being hard to tighten.


I’ve bought what I thought were good deals on Yahoo Auctions before, but . . .
