3M (Three M) is a maker with absolute reliability.

The selection is so abundant it’s actually inconvenient, and the prices are steep enough that it’s hard to take a chance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s tough to buy tape and then think “oh no, I messed up.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me introduce the tapes we use here at Decoboco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I think there are many people who can’t get by without this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3M\u2122 Dual Lock\u2122 Fastener\u2014this also has a rich lineup.

My past favorite was SJ3550J (weak) <\/a>combined with SJ3551J (strong). <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s what I think about the merits and demerits from using it…. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Bonds so strongly = holds really well
\u2022 Two pieces stacked are thick (close to 5mm)
\u2022 Absorbs some curves and unevenness
\u2022 Expensive
Given how convenient it is, the price is unavoidable.

Ideally
\u2022 Good judgment in installation
\u2022 Easy to peel off
\u2022 Thin <\/p>\n\n\n\n

would be perfect… When I flip through the catalog, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found something called 3M Scotch SJ4570 Dual Lock. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even stacked together, it’s only 2.36mm! That’s really appreciated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection feels “peki peki peki” and is easy to install.

*Because it’s thin, the mushroom height is low, so it can’t absorb curves or unevenness.
*If you’re using it surface-to-surface, it’s very good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bond strength for reference.
I don’t think stronger is always better.
\u2022 Bond strength that keeps the attached item from falling off
\u2022 Thinness
These two things are what matter, I’ve learned from using it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those who want to try just a little, we sell it by the meter, which is very convenient. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3M 9708 High-tack double-sided adhesive tape 30mm \u00d7 10m, 1 roll <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s just the right width for ETC antennas and such.
It’s good to have both thin and thick double-sided tapes on hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Thin ones are good for surface-to-surface bonding
\u2022 Thick ones absorb curves and unevenness <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I organize things like this… I start wanting other tapes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3M High-tack double-sided adhesive tape 9720 10mm width \u00d7 8m 9720 10 AAD <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use it on cowls and FRP and such. It really doesn’t run out quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because it’s thick, it has good absorption for curves and unevenness.
At Decoboco we only stock 0.8mm and 2.0mm double-sided tape. Since we rarely use double-sided tape, it never seems to run out… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3M Safety-Walk anti-slip tape type F clear 50mm width \u00d7 5m <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use it when installing grips. Until recently we were using something a bit thicker, but this time we switched to the thinnest option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The merits are <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 You can install it without compromising the grip feel.
\u2022 No adhesive needed\u2014it’s hygienic
\u2022 Work is quick <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hear golf grip tape is good,
racket tape is good,
and so on, but… the problem is adhesive residue on the grip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t reuse the grip, it’s fine, but… it’s tricky. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uses include
\u2022 Raising the side stand when the bike is loaded
\u2022 The bottom of the bike loading stand
\u2022 Shelf bottoms <\/p>\n\n\n\n

and so on. It’s surprisingly useful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nitto acetate adhesive tape NO.5 19mm \u00d7 20m <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you use this, you might not be able to go back to harness tape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Merits
\u2022 You can cut it straight by hand (like cloth duct tape)
\u2022 Matte black looks sophisticated (high-end feel)
\u2022 You can cut it by hand even after installation <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demerits
\u2022 Doesn’t stretch (not really necessary anyway)
\u2022 Being fabric-based, it peels off if it absorbs oil (but that’s true of anything) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For spots that don’t need cable ties, I just bundle them with this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
