Let’s perform a Deco-mainte (inspection and maintenance work).
We also replaced the governor. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We’ll replace the chain and sprocket.
Since a GSX400S Katana wheel is installed, we’re proceeding carefully while checking. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The rear sprocket gave us quite a bit of trouble, but we managed to work it out. Since it’s for a 400, we’re sizing up from 525 to 530.
We wanted steel if possible, so we made it work one way or another. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Let’s remove the rear wheel and clean the inside.
There are certain times when only the technician can do this kind of work. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The wheel damper is in good shape, so that’s great. Suzuki dampers are really durable. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We adjusted the wheel bearings. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The axle shaft had no issues. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The caliper piston operation is fine. There is some corrosion on the piston. If it gets worse, we could consider an OH down the road. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The collar was corroded, so we polished it. The other side had multiple shims, so we rebuilt it. (I think fewer parts are better.) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We disassembled the side stand and lubricated it. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Quite a sharp design on the backstep. Very innovative. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
There’s oil present, so that’s reassuring. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Clutch lever. So there are levers with bearings in them. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We’ll disassemble and lubricate the brake lever as well. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Same with the throttle. It was in nice condition. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’ll clean the rear caliper. The operation is good, but it was a bit corroded. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The air filter was clean, so we’ll reuse it. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’ll clean the front and rear discs. It’s been a while since I’ve seen so many holes… the motivation is building! <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Brake discs tend to accumulate dirt surprisingly. I don’t think there will be a dramatic effect, but if the pad cleaning effect improves by even 1%, I’d be happy. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’ll check the fuel cap condition and clean it. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you clean the key of debris once in a while, it should run a bit smoother. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’re moving right along, but we’ll replace the front and rear fluid with Golden Cruiser DOT4. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The wiring between the generator and regulator had no issues. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The generated voltage should be fine. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’ll check each fuse one by one. Since it’s a place you don’t normally look, maybe that’s what inspection is all about. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Checking the spare fuses too gives peace of mind in case of emergency. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We’ll change the oil. ELF MOTO4 RACE 10W-60\u2014I think this is perfect for summer.
When selecting engine oil, you need the \u25cb\u25cbW-\u25cb\u25cb, but it’s good to check the kinematic viscosity (40\u2013100 degrees) that the manufacturer publishes. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I don’t trust aluminum drain plugs, so we’ll swap it for an iron OEM part.
It’s the drain from an R1000 or Hayabusa. It’s 17 mm across the flats.
