Even though it’s still May, there’s already a summer vibe in the air. I prefer hot to cold, but this heat is a bit much. The Golden Week ten-day break feels like ancient history now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I checked it a while back and was relieved to find the grease from the front maintenance was still holding up well.
Newtech’s NC100 grease has just the right softness, and even under heat it doesn’t tend to drip or liquefy. The fact that the grease doesn’t flow means the bearings should have good durability. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It’s in really good shape. We had planned to replace it, but we’re going to reuse it as is.
I hear those sweet temptations\u2014the dark voice saying “just replace it and boost sales”\u2014but I also hear the white voice in my heart saying “I wouldn’t replace it if it were mine.” That’s the daily struggle. Anyway, even though the customer asked for it, we’re reusing it. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

So we washed it, oiled it, and reassembled it. It’s strange\u2014after replacing the oil and grease and putting it back together, it seems to feel better. I wonder if there’s all kinds of stress building up? Maybe it’s just a placebo effect. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Now on to the fork overhaul. The oil was a bit dirty. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The condition wasn’t bad at all\u2014actually quite good\u2014so there wasn’t much work needed. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

No runout at all\u2014just a light polish. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

I think it’s good practice to replace the cylinder bolts. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Fork oil air bleed and oil level adjustment complete.
If there hadn’t been a parts ordering mix-up, we could have delivered it before Golden Week. That’s how it goes.
