The CBX1000 has a strangely beautiful design. It’s as if it’s asserting itself as a Japanese-made product with all its might! <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with the easy grip heater installation. The throttle will be about 2 millimeters higher. Remember the numbers before and after the change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was plenty of old grease deep inside, so I cleaned it out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n


When reusing a throttle, always check that the stopper is working properly. You don’t want it to slip! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honda OEM protective tube is unusually large and stands out, so I cut it and replaced it with mesh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n


Grip heater control module mounting. I think avoiding cable ties and double-sided tape as much as possible makes a difference in both removability and overall neatness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The module fits nicely into a tab, so this simple bent stainless steel bracket worked perfectly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how it’s installed. Since both the owner and I might forget, I labeled the unit with a label maker so there’s no confusion. Peace of mind! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I realized the design was flawed after I made it. Chronic sloppiness leads to carelessness, so I need to be careful.
The problem is that the bolt has no lock, so if it loosens, it falls off.
Since I want it to be adjustable, I can’t use thread locker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I welded a low-profile nut to the previous nut to convert it to a stud design. Now I can use a lock nut. I painted it black so it blends into the shadows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instruction manuals that lack explanation… I feel like that’s common with motorcycle-related products.
The switch’s purpose is vague, so I placed it on the left side for now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I need to mount the main unit and monitor somewhere. Space is surprisingly tight, so I’m working through the process of elimination. I made a bracket like this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spot-welded it to the hinge I made earlier. Spot welding is absolutely fantastic! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not very clear, but let’s just say I did it this way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going back a bit… the grip heater module wiring.
Wiring is usually long because short wires don’t reach. So you end up bundling them or routing them all over the place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But unnecessarily long wiring doesn’t make sense, and when you remove the fairings, doesn’t it look messy? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where I always struggle.
\u2022 Make it clean \u2192 shorten it \u2192 takes time \u2192 I’m fully responsible going forward
\u2022 Leave it bundled \u2192 looks bad \u2192 maybe the manufacturer is partly responsible?
That’s how it is.
It takes time and I end up fully responsible, so honestly it doesn’t feel like I gain anything.

Our shop doesn’t deal with a diverse range of customers. If the care for the vehicle comes through… “I’ve got to do it!” That’s how I wrestle with it every day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I cut it short, that’s the story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus, making this a connector makes disconnection easier (though you probably won’t disconnect it). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power is sourced using a relay. I often see some questionable DIY wiring jobs online…

I think electricity, like air and water, should be something you can trust and use safely for a long time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doing the work yourself is also very good. Beyond just installing, if you also pay attention to keeping maintenance simple and easy, I think the overall result will be better.

Even choosing a single fuse is worth careful consideration. By the way, I used a waterproof, low-profile mini.
