\nLet’s install a Yoshimura multi-temp meter.<\/p>\n

\nFirst, we consider:
\n\u2022 Where would it look cool?
\n\u2022 Can we make it with some flexibility?
\n\u2022 Can we keep it simple and hassle-free?
\n\u2022 Will it stay out of the way during maintenance work?<\/p>\n

We swim through these questions, look, think, and move forward.
\nWe prepared bent sheet metal, bosses, and bent round bars.<\/p>\n

\nNow comes the docking. We make subtle adjustments, going back and forth.<\/p>\n

\nThere was a nice boss location, so we used that.<\/p>\n

\nThe trip knob rotates smoothly and feels integrated with the bike \u2013 perfect. Removal is just one bolt.<\/p>\n

\nThe ETC antenna \u2013 something we always worry about.<\/p>\n

\nWe made something to hide it inside the fairing.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nWe occasionally see bikes where the oil temperature sensor wire is routed alongside the exhaust pipe.
\n\u2022 It’s hot, so it could melt
\n\u2022 It gets in the way when removing the muffler
\n\u2022 The appearance is a bit unfortunate<\/p>\n

\nIt’s simpler to run it along where the sidestand switch wiring extends.
\nIt’s barely in the work path, so it’s very clean.<\/p>\n

We cleaned it while we were at it.<\/p>\n

\nIn hot areas, we cover with mesh tubing instead of spiral wrap.<\/p>\n

\"\"
\nThe multi-tap \u2013 ideally unused after opening. It’s cleaner and safer not to use it.
\nWe’d prefer not to use shared ground connections either.<\/p>\n

I think this setup reflects the philosophy that it should be installable by DIYers too. In a way, it’s a kind of thoughtfulness.<\/p>\n

\nWe check the wiring diagram to find power and ground, then make the connections. Ideally, power and ground can be sourced in parallel.<\/p>\n

* With a multi-tap and shared ground, it becomes Y-shaped, looks messy, and maintenance is harder.<\/p>\n

\nWe replaced all the fluid,<\/p>\n

\nEngine oil is Newtech NC50 10W-50 and a new filter. We also replaced the drain bolt since it was dirty.<\/p>\n
