\nThe bodywork came out beautifully! The connecting stay also looks great with the gun coat. I hope it’ll keep running strong for another 20 years or so.<\/p>\n

\nI’m a bit of a penny-pincher, so I reuse parts that can be cleaned up and made serviceable.<\/p>\n

\nThe rubber-type float valve we’ve been reusing from now on. So far, the results look solid. It’s interesting that BS and VM are the same\u2014I wonder if that’s a matter of the era or company background?<\/p>\n

In a way, I’m grateful for it.<\/p>\n

\nYou know, “Hey, isn’t this the same as the GSX1100S?” That kind of thing happens all the time.
\nCarburetor bodies are basically universal parts that get remade for specific models, so there’s a puzzle-like fun to it\u2014like “this model doesn’t have an O-ring” but “that model does!” It’s one of the enjoyable aspects of the work.<\/p>\n

Sometimes I have to search for parts, but when I get into the work, taking a close look, measuring, and keeping notes on what I find might pay off down the road.<\/p>\n

\nI checked and adjusted the fuel level on cylinders 1\u20134, and it’s finished in a reliable configuration.<\/p>\n

\nParts worth replacing if they’re still available: the intake manifold and duct. Rubber parts can’t be made anymore.<\/p>\n

\nThe throttle cable won’t pull anymore, so I replaced it with a holder\u2014which also meant replacing the switch.<\/p>\n

The left switch is a constant-on model. Looking at the wiring diagram, a PASS wire is connected. I cut that and changed the supply source. (You can’t pass with it OFF. If you don’t mind, you can leave it as is.)<\/p>\n

\nThe classic Active TYPE1 (preferably 1 or 3\u20142 has poor workability).<\/p>\n

\nA stopper is essential for a solid throttle shutoff. I discarded the stock one and used an ultra-low-profile version that sits flush and looks sleek.<\/p>\n

\nThe throttle cable is DIY-friendly. Positioning it where it’s easy to maintain (and remove) will save you headaches down the road.<\/p>\n

\nThe grips are Ariet. They’re a Kawasaki OEM type and look great.<\/p>\n

If a tire maker made handlebar grips, they’d probably sell well\u2014split compound, super-grippy grips, and so on. Consumer ideas are pretty simple, aren’t they?<\/p>\n

\nI basically don’t trust adhesive alone, so I added anti-slip tape to keep things from rotating.<\/p>\n

\nSuddenly the headlight (low beam) wouldn’t come on, so I checked it.<\/p>\n

\nIt was burned out, which was reassuring.<\/p>\n

\nWhile I was at it, I cleaned the headlight. Finally found a flexible plastic brush that bends.<\/p>\n

\nIt was already clean, so there’s no sense of accomplishment here. Please think of it as me showing off my effort.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
