\nWe use the shop rags to their absolute limit\u2014until they can’t absorb any more dirt.
\nJust wiping parts when you remove them makes a real difference in how long they last.<\/p>\n

\nThe rear axle is within spec\u2014no issues.<\/p>\n

\nWe also adjusted the wheel bearings.<\/p>\n

\nRadial tires\u2014reliable and stable. *Bias tires will feel a bit squirrelly by comparison.<\/p>\n

\nThe rear caliper is about what you’d expect for the year. The piston action is a bit stiff. Keep an eye on it going forward.<\/p>\n

\nThe chain case bolt holes were stripped, so we helicoiled them.
\n*With box-shaped (bag-type) parts, a helicoil with a tang will leave the tang inside, so you can’t use that style.<\/p>\n

\nMoving to the front. Speedometer cables rust and get gummy more often than you’d think. A good cleaning and lubrication helps them last longer.<\/p>\n

\nFork. Bottom gets cleaned and lubricated. Top gets rust protection.
\nUpside-down forks will run reliably for a huge distance and many years if you keep them well lubricated and rust-protected.<\/p>\n

\nClean any areas you can reach while parts are off.
\nKeep them clean and rust-protected, and they’ll stay in good shape for a long time.<\/p>\n

\nThe front axle was also within spec.<\/p>\n
